As of April 4, 2018 Facebook / Instagram implemented a number of API changes without prior notice which have impacted the way all third-party applications, including Stackla, interact with the Instagram platform.

Outlined below are the key changes impacting Stackla users:

TILE DATA:

Instagram has removed the following data from their Social Posts:

  • Content Creator User Name (User Handle ie. @user is still available)

  • Content Creator Avatar

This data will not be present on posts aggregated after April 4, 2018.

Existing content in your Stacks is unaffected and will continue to display as expected.

Stackla displays such as Widgets, Event Screens and Email Campaigns will be updated to gracefully remove these elements from display on posts aggregated after April 4, 2018.

RIGHTS MANAGEMENT REQUESTS:

Instagram has changed the way in which third-party applications like Stackla can add comments to posts, affecting the workflow for Rights Management requests on Instagram.

Rights Request messages (both Rights via Registration & Rights via Response) can now only be posted on Instagram posts that include a mention of your Instagram Business account’s @userhandle in either the post caption or in a post comment. For those posts, the workflow will remain the same.

To request rights for an Instagram post that does not include a mention of your Instagram Business account @handle in the post caption or in a comment, you will need to copy the rights request message and hashtag (for Rights by Response) or URL (for Rights by Registration) from Stackla and manually post this message as a post comment from directly within the Instagram application or via instagram.com

The Stackla User Interface will be updated to reflect these changes and direct you through the relevant workflows.

USER CONTENT:

It is no longer possible to aggregate content from a User Account using your Instagram Token.

In order to aggregate content from a User account, you must now generate a Facebook Page Token for your Instagram Account. That Instagram account must be a Business Account and you must be an Administrator of that account when creating the Facebook Page Token.

Once configured, you will now be able to aggregate content from any other Instagram Business Account on the Platform.

NEW: AGGREGATE INSTAGRAM BUSINESS ACCOUNT MENTION

An advantage to connecting an Instagram Business Account to Stackla is the ability to aggregate Instagram posts where your Instagram Business Account @userhandle has been mentioned in the post caption or on a post comment.

A new Instagram Term type called ‘Business’ is now available in Stackla.
