Using Discounts in Your Post-Purchase Offers

Adding a discount is one of the easiest ways to increase conversion on your Post-Purchase Upsell offers. Whether it’s 10% off or a few euros/dollars saved - customers are often happy to add a little more to their order if it feels like a good deal.

Here’s how it works.

Where Discounts Are Configured

Discounts are applied directly inside your Post-Purchase Upsell campaign setup in Nosto. You’ll find the discount field under the campaign settings when defining your offer.

This discount is only shown on the Post-Purchase page. It does not apply to other Nosto-powered campaigns (e.g. Product Recommendations, Content Personalization, etc).

You can:

  • Offer a percentage discount (e.g. 10%)

  • Offer a fixed discount (e.g. 5€, $3)

You can also choose to not apply a discount at all by setting the discount value to 0.

How Discounts Are Applied

If a discount is configured, it will apply to all products returned by the campaign, including any fallback if used.

  • The discount stacks on top of any existing product-level discount in the Shopify storefront.
→ If a product is already marked down, Nosto’s discount applies on top.

  • The discount is shown to the customer directly on the offer page.
→ No code is needed, and no extra step is required to claim it.

⚠️ Important: If you don’t want to offer discounts on already reduced products, you can set up a product filter in the campaign to exclude discounted items.

Things to Watch Out For

  • The discount is shown on the Upsell page, and it applies automatically once the customer accepts the offer.

  • It’s your responsibility to filter out Products or Collections you don’t want to discount - like gift cards or services.

  • Always make sure your discount values align with your margin goals and selling strategy.
