Overview
When more than one Bundle matches the same context (for example, the same product or attribute combination), Nosto uses the Priority settings to decide which single Bundle to show.
You manage Bundle priority in the Bundles dashboard by selecting Priority in the sidebar.
What Priority Does
With time, it is likely that you will have a lot of different Bundles created, solving very different purposes for you. Still, every Recommendation slot can only show one Bundle. To ensure it is always the right Bundle that shows, you can adjust your priorities to fit your needs.
When Nosto decides which Bundle to show, it follows this order:
Check product-triggered Bundles first
Nosto looks at Bundles that have a product trigger matching the current context.
It uses your selected priority order for the specific product that is the current context to find the highest-priority eligible Bundle for that trigger product.
If no product-triggered Bundle fits, check attribute-triggered Bundles
Nosto then looks at Bundles that are triggered by attributes only.
It uses the alphabetical order of the Bundle Name in Bundles with attribute triggers and picks the first eligible Bundle.
Only one Bundle is shown
If several Bundles could apply, Nosto always shows only one, based on these priority rules.
If no Bundle is eligible at all, the placement either:
Shows nothing, or
Falls back to the Fallback set in the Recommendation the Bundles are assigned to.
More info can be found in "Understanding the Different Fallback-Types"
How to use Priority Settings
When on the Dynamic Bundle Overview, click on "Priority" in the sidebar. You can switch between Bundles with product triggers and Bundles with attribute triggers at any time.
Prioritizing Bundles with Product Triggers
Use this view when you want to control which Bundle wins for specific products.
Step 1 – Find the Trigger Product
In the Priority tab, make sure the “Bundles with product triggers” option is selected.
Browse the list of trigger products, or use the search:
Search by Product Name.
Or search by Product ID.
Step 2 – Reorder Bundles for a Trigger Product
Click on a trigger product row to expand it.
You will see a list of all Bundles that share this trigger product.
For each Bundle, you can see:
Status
Type
Selected performance metrics.
Click and drag a Bundle up or down in the list to change its priority for this trigger product:
The top Bundle has the highest priority.
Lower Bundles are only used if higher ones are inactive or not eligible.
Important: Reordering here only affects Bundles for this specific trigger product. A Bundle that uses multiple product triggers may appear under several trigger product rows.
Step 3 – Save and Confirm
After you drag and drop, Nosto saves the new order automatically.
A visual indicator in the top right corner confirms that the new sorting was saved.
Note: You do not need to click a Save button. Once you see the confirmation, the new priority is active.
Prioritizing Bundles with Attribute Triggers
Use this view to control the order of Bundles that are triggered by attributes instead of specific products.
Step 1 – Open the Attribute Trigger View
In the Priority tab, select Bundles with attribute triggers.
You will see a list of:
Bundles that have only attribute-based triggers, and
Any mixed-trigger Bundles that also include attribute triggers (for completeness).
Each row shows:
Bundle Name (only visible to you)
Status
Type
Selected performance metrics
Step 2 – Understand Alphabetical Priority
The list is sorted by Bundle Name in alphabetical order.
This alphabetical order defines the priority among attribute-triggered Bundles:
Nosto will use the first eligible Bundle in this alphabetical list, but only if no product-triggered Bundle fits.
The Bundle Name:
Is a required internal field when you create or edit a Bundle.
Does not come from products or attributes.
Is not visible to end customers, so you can use it freely for internal naming and prioritization.
Tip: Use consistent naming like “A_…”, “B_…”, or prefixes (e.g. “01 – Brand X”, “02 – Brand Y”) if you want fine-grained control over the alphabetical ordering.
Step 3 – Rename Bundles to Adjust Priority
In the Bundles with attribute triggers view, locate the Bundle you want to move up or down in priority.
Click into the Edit Icon to change the name directly from the overview..
Enter the new name and press enter.
Nosto will:
Save the new name automatically, and
Re-sort the list automatically based on the updated alphabetical order.
Important: Renaming is currently the way to control the relative priority of attribute-triggered Bundles. There is no separate drag-and-drop ordering for this view.
How Priority and Fallback Work Together
When a request is made (for example, a customer views a page where a Bundles placement is present), Nosto:
Looks for product-triggered Bundles and uses your per-product ordering.
If none are eligible, Nosto looks at attribute-triggered Bundles ordered by Bundle Name.
If no Bundle at all is eligible:
The placement may stay empty, or
It may fall back to the Fallback configured in the Recommendation that the Bundles are assigned to.
Tip: For details on Fallbacks check this article.
Imported Bundles
When you import Bundles, their priority will be treated similarly to bundles with attribute triggers, so they will be prioritized alphabetically to begin with.
When you navigate to “Bundles with product triggers”, you can change their priority similarly to other bundles with product triggers.
Summary
You manage priority in the Priority tab of the Bundles dashboard.
Product-triggered Bundles always outrank attribute-triggered Bundles.
Within product triggers, you set priority per trigger product using drag and drop.
Within attribute triggers, priority is defined by alphabetical Bundle Name, which you can edit inline
Nosto always shows only one Bundle per context: the highest-priority eligible one.
If no Bundle is eligible, the placement either stays empty or uses the fallback from the underlying Recommendation.
