Over recent years both Instagram and Twitter have taken several steps to help reduce the ability for spam/robot accounts to hijack their networks.

These steps have made it more difficult for undesirable accounts to leverage these networks, however, a side effect of these steps is sometimes legitimate accounts can accidentally get flagged, especially when requesting Rights for multiple pieces of content over a short period.

To help limit this, Nosto has implemented logic on their end to help throttle requests and conform with Instagram and Twitter's own Best Practices when it comes to posting messages in mass.

These steps, whilst reducing the risk, are not foolproof, as such, it is recommended that customers consider the following tips when crafting their messages.

The more Message templates you have set up, the more varied your messages will be, and the less likely your messages will be picked up as spam.

Nosto recommends you aim for around 10+ different templates on Twitter and Instagram, and can provide some sample templates if required.

Especially when sending via Batch, it is recommended that you aim for a unique variance of at least 20%, and preferably around 40%+ for all messages within your Batch.

By default, your Reply or Comment will include around 1x Hashtags and mention around 1x User, which is common for most Replies and Comments. Naturally, however, you can add additional Users or Hashtags.

Nosto recommends however avoiding adding more than 5x Hashtags and 2-3x Users.

Nothing beats a personalized message, both for encouraging a content creator to hand over their rights, and also for avoiding being flagged for spam.

One of the easiest ways to flag Instagram's or Twitter's anti-spam rules is to go from posting zero comments/replies to posting hundreds in a matter of days. It is encouraged that you both look to build up your requests over time, plus, where possible try and avoid spikes.
