On certain occasions, you might notice that some Instagram posts might not be in your UGC account. There are multiple reasons why this might happen so, we have listed below the main causes to help you troubleshoot.
Common Reasons:
Business Posts created using the Instagram Collab Feature
The Instagram Collab feature allows Instagram users to co-author content with other accounts (collaborators).
With a few exceptions, co-authored media can only be accessed by Nosto if the Instagram account that published the media is connected with Nosto.
Collaborators cannot access this content, so if the account connected with Nosto is the collaborator, Nosto will not be able to ingest it.
The only exceptions are when searching for top-performing media or recently published media tagged with a specific hashtag.
Reels with licensed audio
Instagram API does not provide the media link for Reels that have licensed music, and for that reason, those types of reels cannot be ingested in Nosto. It's not straightforward to identify if the audio is licensed or not. Still, typically if the reel does not say "original audio" it's most likely because it's licensed and cannot be played outside the Instagram platform.
Children of a Carousel Post
Due to recent changes on the Instagram API, children of Carousel posts are not available to be ingested in Nosto on certain occasions, see more details below.
Supported:
The aggregation of children of Carousel posts that are images is supported in Business Posts from accounts connected with Nosto and for Business Mentions posts.
Not Supported:
The aggregation of Carousel children that are images for #, Top Media, Business Discovery, and Tagged Photos is not currently supported. For these types of terms, Nosto can only support the Parent Carousel image/video
Children of a Carousel post that are a video or reel are not supported for any of the terms including Business Posts and Mentions.
The Media is Private
On certain occasions, Instagram users might limit the ability of their content to be used outside Instagram by disabling the option for the media to be embedded, this will limit Nosto's ability to access the media via API.
You can follow the steps below to validate if that might be the case:
Login to Instagram
Go to a Post and click the ... on the right top corner
Select the Embed option
Note that the Copy Embed Code is disabled
