Following changes to the way Nosto's UGC can pull in location data from Instagram, we’d like to share a series of recommendations on how you can utilize our proprietary tools to automatically identify and tag locations on Instagram hashtag posts.
Location-Specific Hashtags
If you are attempting to aggregate content from locations that are popular enough to have their hashtags or can create a location or property-specific hashtag for your brand, you’ll be able to set location-specific hashtag terms within Nosto, then set a ‘Default Location’ for that term.
This will enable you to not only auto-tag the desired location for all content aggregated via that term but will also enable you to use that specific location data on a dynamic map widget.
Go to Discover > Terms > Create Term, then enter the location or property-specific hashtag into Universal Search and select the Instagram Hashtag Term.
Once you’ve confirmed your location-specific Instagram hashtag term, go to Edit Term > Default Location and enter the Location Name as well as the location’s Latitude and Longitude, then turn that setting on. Then, Save that Discovery Term.
Business Accounts for Properties
If you have a Business Account for each of your properties or locations, you should set up Business Posts, Business mentions, and Business Tagged Photo* Terms for those properties while encouraging your customers to @menion and tag those property accounts in their posts.
Not only will this bring in content that doesn't include a Hashtag, plus other data such as User Handle and so on, but again like Location Specific Hashtags, it can be used to categorize and tag content appropriately, and as well, if required, apply Geo-Location data to the Tile using the 'Default Location' configuration option described above.
Go to Discover > Terms > Create Term, then enter the location or property-specific into Universal Search and toggle to the Users/Mentions view to select that property's Business Terms. Click through to View, Confirm, and Save your new Business mentions term.
*To create Business mentions and Business tagged photo terms the account must be connected to Nosto
Automation Rules
Automation Rules can be used to help auto-tag locations based on relevant matches in Hashtags, Keywords, Partial Words, Emojis, or combinations of all of the above.
To set up location Automation Rules, go to Settings > Automation Rules in the navigation and then select Create New Rule.
The first step is to define the Rule Name. This name is what will be used to help identify the rules from the manage Automation Rules page, so we’d recommend having the specific location name in the Rule Name.
The next step is to define the Scope to determine whether you want to match ALL or ANY of the Conditions you define in the Trigger section. Once you select either ALL or ANY, you’ll need to create a Condition or a Group. A Group is a set of Conditions that can have its Scope.
For example, you can select Match ALL, then choose a Message Condition that includes #goldengatebridge. Or Select MATCH ANY and choose Message Conditions: Goldengate, #GGB, #GoldenGateBridge.
Next, select an Action Condition. In this instance, you’d want to select Location or Tag, then add a location tag or search for and choose the desired location you’d like ALL posts containing ‘#goldengatebridge’ to be automatically tagged within Nosto. In this example, you could choose to be very targeted with the precise location of the ‘Golden Gate Bridge’, or you can label it more generally as ‘San Francisco.’
Rights via Registration
Once a Content Creator signs into their account, any Asset(s) that they either hand over or approve will be enriched with key data including any Location Data associated with their posts.
Train Co-Pilot
For customers who have Co-Pilot, we encourage you to manually tag content based on your different location requirements and then let Co-Pilot learn the characteristics of the post (based on the available metadata and Visual Recognition Concepts).
Once Co-Pilot has been trained to a level of confidence you’re satisfied with, you can auto-enable 'applying Tags' within the Co-Pilot Settings.
