FAQ: How does Nosto use each Instagram/Facebook Permission?

For Nosto to provide a range of features related to Instagram and Facebook, we need to ask for multiple permissions to your accounts during the process of connecting your Facebook and Instagram accounts with Nosto.

Below we have listed how we use each permission:

Facebook Permissions

  1. Your Name and Profile Picture

    This allows Nosto to access basic profile information and media of the user's business Facebook account. This is to retrieve user details such as avatar, name, handle etc. during the aggregation of content and then use it to display in the content curate views and touchpoints.

  2. Show a List of Pages you Manage

    This allows Nosto to list the Facebook pages and Instagram accounts linked to the Facebook pages that the user manages. This is for basic aggregation and most other UGC-associated functionality.

  3. Manage Accounts, Settings, and Webhooks for a Page

    This allows Nosto to listen to Facebook page webhooks and Instagram mentions linked to the Facebook pages, that is then used to aggregate content and manage the rights approvals in the portal.

  4. Read User Content on your Page

    This allows Nosto to read the user's own posts on their Facebook pages, which is used for the rights management workflow.

  5. Read Content Posted on the Page

    This allows Nosto to access the posts on your Facebook accounts and aggregate it.

Instagram Permissions

  1. Access Profile and posts from the Instagram account connected to your Page

    This allows Nosto to access basic profile information and media of the user's business Instagram account. This is to retrieve user details such as avatar, name, handle, visual asset etc. during the aggregation of content and then use it to display in the content curate views and touchpoints.

  2. Manage Comments for the Instagram Account connected to your Page

    This allows Nosto to manage comments on the user's Instagram media, which is required for Nosto to be able to post comments on Instagram for the Rights Management workflow.

  3. Access Insights for the Instagram Account Connected to Your Page

    This allows Nosto to access insights for the user's Instagram business account, including metrics on media and audience engagement, which is then used to recommend organic advocates for your business.

Facebook Ads Management Permissions

  1. Access your Facebook ads and related stats

    This allows Nosto to add UGC content to your Facebook Ads.

  2. Manage your Business

    This allows Nosto to manage business assets such as ad accounts and pages, which is required for Nosto to be able to make the collected UGC available in Ads
