Nosto's Rights Management features provide a streamlined way of asking users for their permission to repurpose their content for your marketing purposes (email marketing, ads, etc.), gain explicit approval of T&Cs, provide additional information (such as age, name, or email), as well as safeguard the content for future use by creating an owned copy of the media (images/videos).

There are three methods to rights-managing aggregated content:

Rights via Response

This is the simplest process to request rights from your users. In this process, a rights request is sent to a content creator, via the corresponding social network. The request contains an acceptance hashtag which the content creator must respond with to grant rights.

Rights via Response can be initiated by both the moderator and the content creator.

Rights via Response can be initiated on a per-tile basis or as a Batch request.

Rights via Registration

This method is slightly more complex as it provides steps for data collection and explicit T&Cs approval. Rights via Registration can be initiated by both the moderator and the content creator, which is particularly useful for competitions.

Eg: Competition entrants can confirm their entries, provide additional information, and at the same time approve rights to their content.

In this approach, the user's workflow is:

1. Open the provided link/URL.

2. Agrees to the Terms & Conditions.

3. Approve Rights to one or multiple posts.

4. Provide Data, like name, birthday, etc. (optional).

5. Upload the original high-res version of their media (optional)

Rights via Registration can be initiated on a per-tile basis or as a Batch request for Twitter and Instagram.

Manual Rights Approval

This is a process you can use to mark user-generated content (UGC) as approved in Nosto when rights are managed outside Nosto or if social networks prevent automated recognition of the approval comment.

While Rights via Response and Rights via Registration remain the recommended workflows since they handle rights in an automated way directly with the content creators, Manual Rights Approval ensures you can handle edge cases effortlessly.
